Gagel is a herb that grows on peaty soils such as in the nature reserves in the Kempen.

Gagel was the main condiment in the medieval gruit beers (gruit = herb).

Gageleer is the first contemporary beer in which gagel is re-used. The used wild Myrica gale comes from the De Liereman nature reserve in Oud-Turnhout.

A spicy, fresh blond beer with 7.5% alcohol.
