Kaseike Donkere (dark) Tripel from brewery (beer firm Bovenkassei at Zandbergen.
A fairly new beer of which the brewer is also brewer & blender at the Lindemans brewery.
Zandbergen, did not yet have its own beer and so he came up with the idea to market his own regional beer, named after the Bovenkassei district in which he lives.
Within a short time not 1, but 3 beers were launched. 3 Tripels, but very different in taste and surprising in style.
The deer in the logo refers to the deer that can often be seen at the edge of the forests of the Bovenkassei.
At this time, the beers are brewed at brewery Craywinckelhof at Lubbeek.
The ultimate goal is to start up his own microbrewery at his home on the Bovenkassei.
This Donkere Tripel, yes not all Tripels have to be blond, has a surprising taste.
The taste of roasted malts in combination with a light caramel / candy sweet attack. This taste becomes slightly softer as you drink.
Not typical for a classic Belgian Tripel, but also not the typical properties of a standard brown beer.
An interesting beer.
