RUM da DUM, a brand new beer from Tilburg.
A rum-infused barley wine based on rum raisins and roasted coconut flakes.
Inspired by the legend of pirate captain John Barrow what may give the beer that little bit more.
It was the year 1799. Pirate captain and beer lover John Barrow, in those days feared pirate as well as known rum connoisseur, was only a day’s sailing away from his home port in the Caribbean after a successful procession. Everyone knew him as an honest pirate: he only stripped the ships he entered from their barrels of beer. He was not interested in gold, silk or spices. He had just had his crew dump the very last, brotherly stolen, and furthermore expertly emptied barrel of beer. It would provoke the wrath of an awesome octopus who, with its long tentacles, crushed the clipper and dragged it to the bottom of the ocean. Only a few of Barrow’s companions survived. In his honor and memory, they had an innovative type of beer brewed based on their captain’s favorite rum. “RUM da DUM”, Barrow used to say when he satisfiedly surveyed all not fully volunteered casks aboard his own clipper.
For no less than 220 years, the descendants of Barrow’s cowardly partners have scraped and kneaded this recipe.
Now they think the time is right for everyone to taste the beer.
Enjoy drinking with mateys! YAARR !!!
