Origin of Darkness, a great series from the Canadian Collective Arts and in collaboration with a few other breweries.
In this case a collaboration with the Danish Mikkeller, certainly no stranger to the beer world.
This Origin Of Darkness is an Imperial Stout with the addition of coffee and almond milk.
And yes, it was also aged in Kentucky Bourbon casks.
The taste of roasted malt, almond milk, coffee and chocolate are easily recognizable.
A slightly creamier body with a sweetness.
The barrel aging in Kentucky barrels comes through nicely and is nicely balanced.
Did you know that Collective Arts have their labels designed by all kinds of artists from all over the world?
Their labels are carefully chosen by a jury and the best designs are then eventually used for their beers.
For example, the artist of the design in question is always mentioned on each label.
Perhaps what makes it even more fun is that their tins often consist of multiple designs. For example, the labels can always differ!
Note: the date on the bottom is always the date when the beer was canned!
