Kriek Whiskey Barrel Aged 2020 edition of Hof Ten Dormaal.
This farm brewery has a nice range of beers on their tally.
From blond to dark beer to sour experimental brews and unique barrel-aged series. They can do it all.
This Kriek Whiskey Barrel Aged is certainly not the least.
The basic beer used was the Zure van Tildonk, which they matured for one year in wooden casks and then infused for one year on fresh Belgian cherries.
Afterwards, this brew was matured for no less than six months in wooden Gouden Carolus whiskey barrels. Gouden Carolus? Yes, the one from Het Anker brewery!
The entire brewing process, including maturation, takes no less than 2.5 years.
A recognizable taste of the cherries in combination with a light acidity.
The Gouden Carolus whiskey barrels ripening is nicely reflected in the beer in which the wooden tannins are nicely balanced.
