Hooglander Barrel Aged RIS #09 from the Dutch Hooglander from Aarle-Rixtel in the Dutch North Brabant, brewed in the Brouwschuur in Weert.
As the number suggests, indeed the ninth version of this barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout!
This time it matured for no less than 14 months in a Scottish Ben Nevis whiskey barrel, the only distillery that gets its water from the highest mountain in Great Britain and is named after it.
Again a tasty Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout with a moderately sweet attack and a slightly peaty recognizable taste.
Whiskey comes through very nicely and balances the whole nicely.
No label on the bottle in this series, but that will certainly not spoil the fun!
