Chimay has a new Trappist!
Not entirely new because this beer was already brewed in small numbers in 2012 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the abbey.
But now that Rochefort recently presented a new beer, it was perhaps the right time to also bring this Chimay 150, or Chimay Green, back to life.
Chimay 150 is currently the heaviest in their range and just surpasses the Chimay Bleu in alcohol content.
Again a blond beer with a striking spicy touch.
At first it reminded me of the Italian Trappist Tre Fontane, which also contains a certain spiciness.
The other “secret” herb they were using seems to me to smell remarkably hard like Eucalyptus. Would it be that?
