Adrianus Gold of Breda Brewery.
Brewery Breda, sounds Dutch, but certainly Belgian!
Brewed as a tribute to Pope Adrianus, according to some a real “Leuven” Pope.
Adrianus was born in Utrecht and was the only Dutch Pope ever elected.
Utrecht, so actually a Dutchman? Yes and no…
Born in Utrecht, but he spent most of his life in Leuven.
At that time people did not talk about the Netherlands and Belgium, but rather about the Low Countries.
The beer itself is perhaps a little less Catholic.
A blond beer with an alcohol content of 8%.
Slightly fruity, something of apple with a very light acidity in the background, minimal.
